  • Duration of results can vary, depending on the type of treatment, specific products used and personal factors such as your age, metabolism and genetics.

WRINKLE REDUCTION TREATMENTS will usually see results lasting somewhere between 3-4 months, depending on products used. Over time, clients can develop tolerances to certain products, which can affect results both minimally and drastically.

FACIAL VOLUMISATION TREATMENTS will usually see results lasting somewhere between 3-12 months, depending on products used. Clients can also develop tolerances to products used in these treatments over time, which can affect length of results. Conversely, some clients may hold facial volumisation treatments better than others and may continue to see results well past the average date range for a specific product.

    • I (Nikki) will welcome and check in with you, discussing any pre-existing concerns. I'll facilitate a collaborative treatment plan, discussing appropriate avenues for treatment considering your personal cosmetic goals and individual preferences.

    • Personal medical and lifestyle questions will confirm eligibility for treatment. Associated risks will be fully disclosed, ensuring informed consent. Once all necessary info has been shared, we may video chat with an on-call Dr, where the three of us will further discuss chosen treatment, relevant medical history, potential risks, and any remaining concerns (this call may not be required, depending on treatment type). If all is well, treatment will go ahead.

    • I will numb more sensitive areas of the face prior to treatment. You may experience some pain and discomfort depending on the treatment, but you shouldn’t feel any significant pain following treatment. I will check in throughout your treatment to ensure you’re comfortable and still consenting.

    • Before you leave, I will observe the results and thoroughly assess your face for potential reactions. I will remind you of reaction warning signs and aftercare instructions. You are encouraged to get in touch with any concerns – I'm always contactable via phone.

    • Results may be instant or seen in coming weeks, depending on chosen treatment. You may experience some bruising, redness, swelling and tenderness, or a delayed onset of results, all of which are completely normal following particular treatments.

    • I will reach out over the days and weeks following to discuss your results. By week 2, we should have a clear picture of your final result. Further treatment or fine tuning can be discussed, considering an appropriate timeline after initial treatment.

  • Most treatments may cause mild, temporary side effects in the days following treatment, such as:

    • Bruising

    • Swelling

    • Redness

    • Tenderness

    • Irritation/itchiness

    • Allergic reaction

Further potential risks and side effects may vary depending on the type of treatment and the technique utilised.

    WRINKLE REDUCTION:

Some wrinkle reducing treatments may cause:

    • HEADACHE + FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS

This should reduce over coming days. Migraine-like headaches may also occur and can last for a few weeks – the risk of these is minimised with better product placement and not overusing your newly treated muscles.

    • FACIAL ASYMMETRY

May occur if opposite sides of the face are treated differently, or if one side of the face is stronger than the other.

    • EYEBROW/EYELID DROOP

Clients may experience this if the wrong area of the face is treated. The chance of this is around 3% and risk is significantly reduced by use of appropriate technique. A droop will eventually resolve itself once treatment wears off (typically between 3-7 months, depending on product used).

    • INFECTION

Infection is always a risk if treatment requires penetration of the skin. Keep the treated area clean to mitigate this risk.

    FACIAL VOLUMISATION:

Some facial volumisation treatments may cause:

    • BRUISING

both in the immediate treatment area and the tissue surrounding. This can be small, large, feint or prominent. Bruises are not always avoidable, as everyone’s facial blood vessels are placed differently. We recommend that clients who have a special occasion coming up be treated at least 10 days prior to the event, so any bruising can settle.

    • LUMPS

Lumps soon after treatment are normal, but they should dissipate over the coming weeks, either on their own or with gentle massage (ask your practitioner for instructions prior to massage). Remaining lumps may be a result of inadequately placed product, or unintegrated product requiring further massage. Any persistent lumps of product can be dissolved with hyaluronidase enzyme. Speak to your practitioner if you are unsure.

    • INFECTION

Infection is always a risk if treatment requires penetration of the skin. Keep the treated area clean to mitigate this risk.

    • IMPAIRED BLOOD SUPPLY

Normal blood flow of the face can be affected if treatment should fill or compress a blood vessel. This can manifest in the affected tissue as coolness to touch, discolouration (blue, purple, white, or splotchy skin), prolonged bruising, pain, and poor return of blood flow after pressing firmly on the skin. If this occurs, your treatment will be reversed immediately using hyaluronidase enzyme to break down the product. If left untreated, the impaired tissue can eventually die, due to limited blood and oxygen supply. It is imperative to seek out a practitioner you trust and notify them of any concerns, so they can reverse the treatment ASAP.

    • BLINDNESS

As above, if the affected vessel usually supplies blood and oxygen to the eye, the impairment may cause temporary vision loss initially, or permanent vision loss if left untreated. Prevalence of blindness is very rare and is significantly reduced by safe practices and choice of practitioner. Potential complications can be avoided or reversed, so long as they are caught early enough.

    • SKIN/CELL/TISSUE DEATH

As above, if affected blood vessels are left untreated, tissue that is normally supplied blood and oxygen via those vessels can die. It is imperative to seek out a practitioner you trust and notify them of any concerns, so they can reverse the treatment ASAP. Prevalence of tissue death is rare and is significantly reduced by safe practices and choice of practitioner. Potential complications can be avoided or reversed, so long as they are caught early enough.
